Skills London is a jam-packed show full of interactive, fun, inspiring and informative activities, features and hands-on demonstrations. 

 

We encourage you to try as many as possible and talk to the different organisations to find out more about what the future has to offer you. 

This is your chance to learn more about your future options and what employers require of you. Over 200 exhibitors will be at Skills London 2017 and eager to talk to you. Try the interactive features and hands-on demonstrations, get up to date information and great careers advice and, in short, find out more about what the future has to offer you.

Below are some of the highlights from Skills London 2016. Further details about Skills London 2017 will be updated in August 2017. 

We hope that the event will inspire you towards your future career and open your eyes to the many different opportunities available across London and nationally, now and in the future.

Get Skilled and Zones

Zones Skills London brings careers, jobs, training and the world of work to life. It’s more than just a chance to hear about careers, it’s a chance to try new skills, take testing challenges and learn about all the options open to you in London.

The whole event is split into zones to help you navigate your route to success.  Colour coded to help you find your way round, each zone offers a flavour of what careers, training and help is available in that industry or sector. Get Skilled stands in the zones let you try hands on activities and take away inspiration and souvenirs! The Get Skilled activities are linked to real jobs that you can do an apprenticeship in.

Skills London features & talks timetables - from 2016

Industry Insights Talks at the Careers & Enterprise Hub 

If you're a careers adviser, teacher or parent, don't miss the Industry Insight Talks, hosted by Skills London sponsors; London Councils and London Ambitions and taking place in The Careers and Enterprise Hub. Back by popular demand, the series of inspirational 15-minute sessions from top exhibitors and sponsors, are designed to provide adults with a sneak preview into what different industries would be like to work in and the full range of career routes available. Running throughout the day, the Industry Insight stand offers exhibitors in the Careers & Enterprise Hub the opportunity to talk directly to Skills London visitors about careers and enterprise options for young people.

Interview Skills Dome in the Careers & Enterprise Hub  

First impressions are so important when it comes to interviewing. Employers make decisions about job applicants within the first few minutes of an interview, and what you wear can play a big part in that. Make sure you get it right and visit Smart Works in the Interview Skills Dome. This completely free, core dressing and interview preparation service achieves consistently high levels of success. The experts will advise you on exactly what to wear to ensure you look fabulous, feel comfortable and have everything you need to help ease those natural nerves. The highly skilled Smart Works team, supported with a range of interview experts and coaches, will give you one-to-one advice in a compassionate and supportive way having you interview ready in no time!

Tech Feature at the Science, Technology, Engineering and Manuafacturing Zone 

Ada, the National College for Digital Skills will be hosting a series of sessions throughout the day to include talks from students who are currently working on apps and other technology products; talks from industry partners and exhibitors including Google, Deloitte and BBC; and talks by Ada regarding current job opportunities within the Digital and Technology sector.

Design, Construction & Property Block 

Supported by Property Needs You, visitors have the opportunity to meet some of the largest construction and property companies in London, including: Barratt Developments, Laing O'Rourke, Wates, Arcadis, Telford Homes and Go Construct. 

Discover what it means to have a career in one of the UK's fastest growing industries. All organisations will provide hands-on activities that gives visitors an insight into the extensive careers available in the design, construction and property sector including; architect, estate agent, civil engineer, construction manager, historic buildings conservationist and more.
 
Creative Hub

Get imaginative with over 20 separate organisations from the creative industries. Meet ITV, the Royal Opera House, National Theatre, ATG, Sadler's Wells, UK Music, LAMDA, Sae Institute, Point Blank and many more ranging from top London employers to specialist colleges and training organisations. You'll be spoilt for choice within this immersive zone. Get Creative and #getinspired 

Design a perfect party outfit 

Here's your chance to be a fashion designer and design your perfect party outfit with Fashion Enter. In its interactive display you will be taken through the complete garment life cycle and learn how an initial idea is turned into a final garment. You will have the opportunity to create a sketch using the inspiration provided and guidance from the Fashion Enter team.

Your design will join the wall of entries on stand number 1040 where it will be later judged by a panel of industry experts. One design will be selected as a winner based on trend, colour, silhouette and fabric. The winning design will be produced in our North London factory!

Teachers Staffroom 

New for this year, teachers and careers advisers will be able to grab a free tea or coffee and have the opportunity to network with a range of organisations all keen to share up-to-date information on business sectors and services to support your careers guidance work. 
 
NHS (Health Education England) Simbulance 

The Simbulance is a unique educational concept that is provided on behalf of Health Education Kent, Surrey & Sussex and the South East Coast Ambulance Service NHS Foundation Trust. The Simbulance is a mobile training environment, designed for use within the Ambulance Service and Acute Hospital Trusts, enabling realistic and immersive simulation for healthcare clinicians.
