What's On?

Skills London is a jam-packed show full of interactive, fun, inspiring and informative activities, features and hands-on demonstrations. 

We encourage you to try as many as possible and talk to the different organisations to find out more about what the future has to offer you. 

This is your chance to learn more about your future options and what employers require of you. Over 200 exhibitors will be at Skills London 2017 and eager to talk to you. Try the interactive features and hands-on demonstrations, get up to date information and great careers advice and, in short, find out more about what the future has to offer you. 

We hope that the event will inspire you towards your future career and open your eyes to the many different opportunities available across London and nationally, now and in the future.

Get Skilled and Zones

Zones Skills London brings careers, jobs, training and the world of work to life. It’s more than just a chance to hear about careers, it’s a chance to try new skills, take testing challenges and learn about all the options open to you in London.

The whole event is split into zones to help you navigate your route to success. Colour coded to help you find your way round, each zone offers a flavour of what careers, training and help is available in that industry or sector. Get Skilled stands in the zones let you try hands on activities and take away inspiration and souvenirs! The Get Skilled activities are linked to real jobs that you can do an apprenticeship in.

Skills London Features & Talks

Career Ready Talks

The Career Ready Talk theatres showcase a programme of 15 minute bite-size talks or workshops across the two days, aimed at young people. Through these talks exhibitors and sponsors will deliver inspirational short presentations or workshops about the industry they work in, informing and preparing young people for the world of work.

There are two Career Ready Talks theatres:

Employability Career Ready Talks Theatre - Talks will focus on general employability skills such as CV writing, interview tips, confidence building and gaining work experience. 

Industry Career Ready Talks Theatre - Talks will focus on Creative, Hospitality, Retail, Leisure, Public Services, Health and Care industries.

Interview Skills and One to One Advice in the Careers & Enterprise Hub  

First impressions are so important when it comes to interviewing. Employers make decisions about job applicants within the first few minutes of an interview, and what you wear can play a big part in that. Make sure you get it right and visit Smart Works in the Careers & Enterprise Hub. This completely free, core dressing and interview preparation service achieves consistently high levels of success. The experts will advise you on exactly what to wear to ensure you look fabulous, feel comfortable and have everything you need to help ease those natural nerves. The highly skilled Smart Works team, supported with a range of interview experts and coaches, will give you one-to-one advice in a compassionate and supportive way having you interview ready in no time!

Tech Feature at the Science, Technology, Engineering and Manufacturing Zone 

National College Creative Industries will be hosting a tech feature displaying the specialist education they offer to access work opportunities in the industry. Students will train alongside professionals who rehearse, record and film at The Backstage Centre.

Skills London Animated GIF Photo Booth 

Showtime Photo Booth will be supplying an animated GIF photo booth, which includes built in social media sharing tools for visitors to share their very own GIF at the event!

What's on - Schedule

All About Apprenticeships 

This feature is supported by the Greater London Authority and will include the National Apprenticeship Service and other London information providers. It will feature a theatre delivering a programme of talks (see below) and an open plan area where visitors can talk to current Apprenticeship Ambassadors. An Apprenticeship News Board will feature live social media feeds and apprenticehship opportunities and play apprenticeship videos.

All About Apprenticeships Theatre

This will form part of the All About Apprenticeships feature and talks will focus on apprenticeships and traineeships including how to apply, what is it like to be an apprentice and more useful information.

Construction Village

Supported by CITB, visitors have the opportunity to meet some of the largest construction projects and property companies in London including; Tideway, HS2, Laing O'Rourke, Telford Homes, the Chartered Institute of Building and Go Construct. 

Discover what it means to have a career in one of the UK's fastest growing industries. All organisations will provide hands-on activities which gives visitors an insight into the extensive careers available in the design, construction and property sector including; architect, estate agent, civil engineer, construction manager, historic buildings conservationist and more.

Made in London

Presented in a gallery style area within the event, this feature will showcase products created by individuals as part of their job or training, representing some of the organisations and companies from the wide selection of key industry sectors exhibiting.

Creative Hub

Get imaginative with over 20 separate organisations from the creative industries. Meet ITV, the Royal Opera House, National Theatre, Fashion Retail Academy and many more ranging from top London employers to specialist colleges and training organisations. You'll be spoilt for choice within this immersive zone.

Visit the Live Jobs Board to see what vacancies and placements are available. Why not visit the exhibitor on their stand and find out more about the role and how you can apply.

Teachers & Parents Hub

Located in the Careers & Enterprise Hub. On the Friday this area will have 10 exhibitors who want to engage with teachers. Teachers will be issued with a complimentary tea and coffee voucher they can redeem in here. Converted to a Parents Hub on the Saturday and again parents will be able to have complimentary tea and coffee and use the Hub lounge to sit and prepare for their visit.
